Adams Chapel AME Church

Valerie Walker, M. Div., Pastor

History of the

Voices of Adams Chapel

In March 2004, during a church conference, Pastor Kenneth C. Taylor informed the church body that a young lady was contemplating making a move back to Adams Chapel from a place of worship in Charlotte, NC. Everyone was excited and thankful to God that this individual was returning to what was home. Sis. Tiffany Hicks came back and agreed to become the Minister of Music and help reorganize the choir.

Under the direction of Sis. Hicks, the choir adopted the name The

Voices of Adams Chapel and became a living and vital part of this great edifice of God. We have learned to sing God’s praises without inhibition.

Therefore, The Voices of Adams Chapel is not just simply a choir,

but a ministry. As a ministry, we learned to move to higher levels.

We render a ministry of music each Sunday here at Adams Chapel.

In past occasions, under the leadership of Sis. Hicks, we celebrated Black History Month at Adams Chapel each February by combining with various choirs to form the Heritage Choir.

We are the featured choir each year for the Gospel Explosion held at Mt. Zion AME Church in Georgetown, SC. We have also completed a live recording at Winthrop University as well as performed during the Martin Luther King Observance at Winthrop University. This choir has traveled throughout South Carolina at various events ministering God’s word through song. Today, we celebrate 15 years in the Music Ministry. We render a ministry of music each Sunday here at Adams Chapel. Under God’s guidance and the leadership of our Pastor, the Rev. Jacques R. Days. We Thank all of those who have prayed, supported and believed in us in the past and those are and will continue to do the same.
